Canterbury Oast Trust (COT) is one of Kent's most respected charities, providing person-centred accommodation, support and life skills training for adults with learning disabilities and autism. Through a range of residential, supported living and community programmes, as well as social enterprises including the much-loved Rare Breeds Centre, they empower individuals to live as independently as possible and fulfil their true potential.
As a charity with multiple sites, residential facilities and community enterprises, managing their environmental impact is both complex and important. Canterbury Oast Trust has achieved Measuring stage accreditation, establishing a baseline carbon footprint across Scope 1, 2 and key upstream Scope 3 categories and committing to reduce their emissions year on year. Their willingness to take ownership of their environmental responsibilities, alongside their core mission of empowering the people they support, speaks to an organisation that understands accountability in the broadest sense.
